Q: What do you think Canadian soccer needs to do to raise the level of play so that they can become a factor on the national stage? Do you see Canada consistently making the world cup in the near future, and do you think they will win it in your lifetime? (from Charlie, Toronto)
De Ro: Canada, in my opinion, should already be a regular in the World Cup. It’s too big of a country not to be and far to much talent goes unnoticed. It’s all in preparing the youth for the big stage! Canada as a whole needs to unite the provinces and focus on a common goal, and that is developing the young talent and putting them in professional atmosphere were they can blossom. Canada needs something similar to the US Bradenton program and generation Adidas that develop young talent on a full time basis. The World Cup in the near future remains a big question mark. Due to the fact we don’t really have any U-20 or Olympic players on our Senior team, I would like to know were all those young player’s went?
Q: Can you actually hear the chants for El Batallion during the game? If so, just how much do they help you and the rest of the Orange throughout the game?
De Ro: El Batallion is great! I enjoy the chants and their support for our team and me. They really bring in a great atmosphere and I love the drums, it’s all in the rhythm of things. DALE, DALE Batallion!!!
Q: What goal in your career stands out in your mind as the greatest goal you’ve ever scored? Thanks Dwayne!!! Good luck in the playoffs!!! – Jenny, Houston
De Ro: Wow, I have quite a few goals that I really cherish, and I feel very blessed in saying that, but the 2001 MLS Cup goal for me stands out because that was like my mark in the league.
